Golden Joystick Awards

We live streamed the 34th Golden Joystick Awards, one of the longest-running events in global gaming.

The Challenge

The Golden Joystick Awards is a ceremony held annually to honour the greatest video games of the past year, as voted for by the British public, and is currently the second-longest running video game award ceremony. Held at the O2 London, the 34th ceremony awarded winners in 26 categories, including Best Multiplayer Game, Best Studio, Most Wanted Game and Ultimate Game of the Year.

Being driven by public vote, and with a huge following in both the UK and international gaming communities, the Golden Joysticks wanted gaming fans at home to be able to follow all the action throughout the evening, live on YouTube.

YouTube Live Stream

Presented by Radio 1’s Julia Hardy, we created a YouTube live stream which included pre-event coverage such studio interviews with developers, gamers and experts, plus a venue tour. We then moved to broadcasting the main ceremony itself with our live vision mixing. The stream gained almost 40,000 views during the event, with thousands more tuning in afterwards.
